Out playing again with my rocket stove, I timed how long it would take to boil 2 pints of cold water. It was 5 minutes and 15 seconds, I didn't think that was too bad. It was a similar time the night before, It obviously will vary a small amount depending on fuel used, amount of fuel, outside temperature, wind etc... This is not a large rocket stove and is pretty portable, you can use them to cook on. Heat water or keep warm by, especially if you put some sticks down the top into the tube and use a reflector to throw back some heat towards yourself. Something concave in shape like a large wok seems to work very well, angled slightly downwards or a few inches above the stove upside down. You would need to support it some how, but this tends to throw the heat 360 degrees. You would need to be fairly close to it to benefit, but it does work and is effective. Anyway towards the end of this video I have tried to get a closer look at the combustion chamber, check out the swirl of flames. It really mixes the gases well. I don't think that this is by any means the best that can be achieved and I'm sure that someone seeing this will be probably making something even better, but it was an idea I had and just wanted to try it out to see if it would fulfil my expectations.
