Installing A Cookstove Safely In Very Tight Quarters. Part 2
Obadiah himself briefly explains his plan in Part 2 of this 4 part series for this extreme installation of a Kitchen Queen Cookstove in a cabin he built for his daughter. Here you will learn how to safely install a wood burning cookstove in a small area. We will show you the different ways you can reduce clearances by adding heat shields to your wall, floor and stove. Obadiah's will employ all these different ways in a actual cookstove installation. Learn the safe ways to reduce clearances to combustibles. This installation is further defined in a 8 part series on You Tube called, "How To Reduce Clearances To Combustibles." As a firefighter, it is my hope to provide you with a safe way to do whatever it is you need to do to install your cookstove. Whatever plan you come up with, check with your local building dept of fire dept for help. After it is installed, please take the time to test your install. How to do that will be available in further parts of this series. Please refer to your local codes for your installation. More info on this subject can be found on www.hearth.com Obadiah's can be found at www.woodstoves.net or our newest site, www.discountstoves.net

Copper Cooktop Wood Stove! Part 1 (WAY better than steel!)
Ya, so.. my wood stove broke. darnit. I figure if fI'm going to fix it, I may as well make it better! So... I decided to try a copper top. That way when cooking, loads of heat will get through the cook top. :-) 2 things... Holey crap, I need a haircut! and I couldn't fins any copper parts on wood stoves anywhere on the net! They must exist. Copper is a great conducter. Should hypothetically transfer heat really well.

mask stove - nozzle/slot hole design
Here is a small stove with strong smokeless flame which burns wood sticks or wood pellets. Just fill with wood, light a match then throw it in on top. Can boil 5 litre of water on a can of wood pellets. Video of the flame: www.youtube.com Using a chunk of wood for fuel: www.youtube.com My goal is to get the cleanest and most reliable burn from wood pellets with a simple tin can stove that can be made using simple hand tools. Starting with the original Donut Wood Stove as version 1, this would be version 22 for the shape and location of the large secondary air hole. Based on the shape and flow of the flame, the hole shape evolved from a small circle to a larger circle to a horizontal rectangle to 2 rectangles to 2 rectangles with 2 extra holes to eye shaped holes to the large eye shaped design you see in this video. The main characteristics of this design is that the fresh air cut across the rising smoke. . With different sizes of the fuel container, the number/size of primary holes at the bottom and the size of the secondary air hole (the hole in the middle), you get different heat output and burn duration. For low power/short duration cooking, I use just the small middle can with the bottom intact to cook either one serving of rice or pasta. This small can holds only max of 120g of pellets but will boil 1.8 litres of water with only 35ppm of carbon monoxide when I tried it indoors. This is getting closer to the most efficient wood cook stoves which use less than 50g of ...

GERES, Cambodia, Efficient charcoal cooking stoves - Ashden Award winner
This video can be downloaded here: www.ashdenawards.org GERES won an Ashden Award for Sustainable Energy in 2006. You can follow us on: Facebook bit.ly Twitter twitter.com Blog: www.ashdenawards.org The Groupe Energies Renouvelables, Environnement et Solidarités (GERES) set up the Cambodian Fuelwood Saving Project (CFSP) which has developed a cheap charcoal stove, the 'New Lao' stove. This uses at least 22% less charcoal than the 'Traditional Lao' stoves which are commonly used in Cambodia. More than 130000 New Lao stoves have been produced by 14 entrepreneurs and sold in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, over the past three years. About 95% of Cambodians cook with biomass fuels. This is costly, has adverse health effects and is bad for the environment. Cambodia's great natural biodiversity is threatened by uncontrolled wood consumption. Much of this demand is for timber and a significant amount is turned into charcoal which is the preferred cooking fuel in cities, used by 40% of the population of Phnom Penh. The area of forest is diminishing but the price of charcoal has hardly increased over the last ten years, reflecting a thriving (but largely illegal) trade, and lack of taxes and other constraining factors. One way of reducing the unsustainable wood consumption is by reducing the demand for charcoal. CFSP have worked with stove users and producers to develop a stove which is more efficient and durable than the conventional bucket-type stoves because of better ...

ClimateCare: Fuel efficient stoves in Mexico
Eco fuel-efficient stoves save forests and lives: This is an introduction to a project promoting the use of fuel-efficient stoves in Mexico. These stoves need to burn less wood for the same amount of cooking, and so cut down on deforestation and the amount of harmful smoke building up in people's homes. Each stove saves an estimated 3 tonnes of carbon per year. The project won an Ashden Award for sustainable energy in 2005, and is supported by ClimateCare, a world leading carbon offsetting company (video credit: Ashden Awards)
